Waldorf University鈥檚 Office of Student Life received a Governor鈥檚 Volunteer Award from Governor Kim Reynolds and Lt. Governor Adam Gregg during a special recognition ceremony this summer in Storm Lake.

Waldorf University鈥檚 Student Life was honored with a Group Volunteer Award by the Iowa Department of Transportation for their highway cleanup project. The Office of Student Life includes residence life and student senate.

鈥淚鈥檓 very proud of our students for being recognized with this award,鈥 said Waldorf University Dean of Students Jason Ramaker. 鈥淥ur students are always looking for ways to engage with our community and give back in service. This award means a lot to our students and I was glad to accept it on their behalf.鈥澨

鈥淚 am pleased we can provide a way to help organizations honor the devoted volunteers who help the organization deliver on its mission,鈥 state Adam Lounsbury, executive director of Volunteer Iowa. 鈥淰olunteers across Iowa are contributing their time and talent in incredible ways to help solve the most pressing challenges in their communities.鈥

More than 600 awards are being presented this year during ceremonies held at several locations around the state. 听It is estimated that more than 31,000 hours of service, with an economic impact of more than $727,000, were served by this year鈥檚 honorees during the past 12 months.
