Waldorf University鈥檚 Distinguished Visiting Writer Series presents Wyatt Townley, Poet Laureate of Kansas Emeritus, on Wednesday, April 12 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Odvin Hagen Recital Hall.

Townley will present 鈥淐oming Home鈥 which will explore the concept of home in a shifting world: What is it? Where is it?听
听
鈥淲e are very excited to welcome Wyatt to Waldorf,鈥 said Tim Bascom, Waldorf University assistant professor and director of creative writing. He and Dr. Bryan Stanley, professor, pianist and composer at Waldorf, have collaborated to arrange this cross-disciplinary event.听
听
鈥淲e are very fortunate to have someone of Wyatt鈥檚 caliber as part of our series,鈥 Dr. Stanley said. 鈥淣ot only will the audience be able to hear her poetry, but we鈥檝e also blended her work with original music compositions. We鈥檙e sure this event will appeal to all ages and interests.鈥

Townley鈥檚 work has appeared in venues ranging from National Public Radio (NPR) to The Paris Review to Newsweek. Several of her poems are set to song by Dr. Stanley, who has music published by G. Schirmer, Hal Leonard, and Boosey & Hawkes. The song settings will be performed by Waldorf music students.
