Waldorf University will host a speaking event for聽the 2018 Iowa Teacher of the Year, Aileen Sullivan, on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. in the Salveson Ballroom located at 106 S. Sixth St. Forest City, Iowa. Area teachers and administrators, pre-service teachers, and others who are interested are invited to this inspiring session. High school students interested in a career in education are especially encouraged to attend.

As Waldorf University prepares to celebrate Homecoming this weekend, for three distinguished Warrior alumni returning to their alma mater in Forest City, the weekend will be extra special.

For the third year, Waldorf University will hold the annual 24-hour Read-a-thon in the Luise V. Hanson (LVH) Library lounge located at 106 S. Sixth St. Forest City, IA, 50436. The event will be begin at 3 p.m. on Friday Nov. 2 and continue for a total of 24-hours ending at 3 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 3.

Cedar Rapids Teacher Wins $1,000 in Classroom Funds

Waldorf University is pleased to announce this year鈥檚 inductees into the Alpha Chi Honor Society. Eleven students were inducted during a formal ceremony held at Waldorf University Saturday, Oct. 13. Alpha Chi honors those juniors and seniors with high academic achievement who use those gifts in service for others.

Waldorf University to host an artist reception for area photographer Chad Heggen on Thursday Oct. 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Waldorf University Gallery housed in the Campus Center located at 106 S. 6^thSt Forest City, Ia. 50436. An artist talk will begin at 7 p.m.

Waldorf University to host slam poet, Natasah T. Miller as part of the Fall Speaker Series on Monday Oct. 22 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Waldorf University Atrium at 106 S. 6聽St. Forest City, IA. 50436. The event is free to the public.

Waldorf University Athletic Department and Student Life will host the 鈥淏e a Champion of Life鈥� speaking event featuring Richard Jensen on Wednesday Oct. 24 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Boman Fine Arts Center located at 225 John K Hanson Dr. Forest City, Ia. The event is free to the public.

Waldorf University will now offer the English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement as an option to Education students. The university was notified by the Iowa Department of Education on Oct. 5 that they had been approved to begin offering the ESL endorsement to students as one of several endorsements available within the Bachelor of Science in Education curriculum.

The Boman Fine Arts Center, located at 225 John K. Hanson Drive Forest City, Iowa, will host a grand opening on Monday Oct. 15. Invitation only events will begin at 4:30 p.m. and continue until 6:30 p.m. when the center will open to the public. A program of events is scheduled from 7-8 p.m. followed by public tours from 8-9 p.m. Media will have the opportunity to speak with organization committee members from 5:15-6:15 p.m.
